Gas Drum Shredder Machine

Video

Description

Gas drum shredder machine is designed to process properly emptied and safely prepared metal drums, oil drums, chemical drums, and other industrial containers. The machine typically uses a low-speed, high-torque double-shaft shredding system to grab, shear, and tear drums into smaller pieces. Its heavy-duty cutters, reinforced chamber, powerful gearbox, PLC control, and overload protection provide stable performance for demanding metal recycling applications. After shredding, the steel fragments can be processed by magnetic separation and sent to steel mills or foundries as recyclable scrap. For drums that previously contained flammable or hazardous substances, professional cleaning, degassing, and safety treatment are essential before shredding.

Product Details

Gas drums are commonly made from carbon steel, stainless steel, plastic, or composite materials. According to their structure and application, they can include closed-head steel drums, open-head drums, chemical drums, oil drums, and specialized gas or pressure containers. Different drum materials, thicknesses, sizes, and residual contents require different recycling methods and equipment. Before shredding, containers that may contain flammable gas, liquids, or hazardous residues must be completely emptied, cleaned, and safely degassed.

For properly prepared empty steel drums, a double-shaft gas drum shredder machine is a suitable choice. It uses two counter-rotating shafts equipped with durable cutting blades to grab, tear, shear, and compress drums. Compared with high-speed crushing equipment, the low-speed and high-torque design provides strong cutting force and controlled operation, making it suitable for thick steel drums and other bulky metal containers. The machine capacity and cutter configuration can be customized according to drum size and required output.

The main structure of a gas drum shredder machine includes a heavy-duty feeding hopper, reinforced shredding chamber, two cutter shafts, alloy-steel blades, high-torque gearbox, electric motors, transmission system, PLC control cabinet, and safety protection devices. The cutters continuously pull drums into the chamber and shear them into smaller pieces. Reverse rotation and overload protection can help prevent equipment damage when hard or oversized material enters the chamber.

After shredding, steel drum fragments can pass through a magnetic separator to recover ferrous metals. The recovered steel scrap can be supplied to steel mills, foundries, and metal-processing plants as secondary raw material. Shredded drum material can also be further screened, sorted, and compacted according to customer requirements. For drums containing hazardous residues, however, a complete professional treatment system with appropriate cleaning, degassing, gas detection, ventilation, and fire-safety measures is essential before shredding.
